O divnom hotelu gde smo odseli, pogledajte ovde.
Pienza is the heart of Tuscany, as it sits in the midle of some of the most photographed landscapes in Italy.
City of Pienza is surrounded by the most beautiful scenery, wineries and vineyards in Italy. The breathtaking, unblemished landscape and rich history earned it a designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 and served as the film sets for The English Patient, Gladiator, and Under the Tuscan Sun.
Pienza is famous for its Pecorino cheese that can be found in many, stores, together with their hand-made pasta, spices, smoked ham and wine.
The town is protected by walls, you can not get in by car, and when you walk around the edge, watching the landscapes and the sky taking the breath away, an image that is remembered for a lifetime. Plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, shops, restaurants, square (piazza), and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Easy walking, friendly residents, beautiful memories. If you are touring Val d’ Orca, this must be a stop.
Make sure that you find the Via Dell’ Amore (Street of Love) located to the left of the Duomo and behind the city centre. Once you meander to this outer promenade, behold the most striking panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside, some of the best you’ll find anywhere in Tuscany!
Pienza, situated in the valley of Val d’Orcia in the province of Siena (Tuscany region, central Italy) is known as as “the culmination of Renaissance urbanism” because the bishop of the town was declared the Pope, after which he ordered the demolishion of the whole village and building a Renaissance architectural gem on the hill.
Pienza is narrow with beautiful streets and squares and well worth a visit.
And here you can see a wonderful hotel where we were staying.
If you like romance and wine, this is the place for you, with the inevitable Brunello and Vino Nobile wine regions as well as the charming hilltowns of southern Tuscany: Montepulciano, Montalcino, Cortona, Siena, and others in southern Tuscany.
